BrightVolt, a global leader in the customized design, development and scale manufacturing of ultra-thin film, flexible batteries, announced the appointment of James Pope as VP - Power Solutions.
In his new post, Pope will manage the growth and development of BrightVolt’s battery sales and channel distribution as BrightVolt gears up for the substantial growth in IoT, focusing on the medical, sensors, labels, wearables and smart card markets. BrightVolt has 75 patents with more on the way and has sold more than 10 million batteries across the globe.
“To advance our position as the market leader in efficient, flexible and ultra-thin batteries, I felt it was critical to expand our market reach and channels of distribution,” said Todd Peters, CEO. “Pope possess the necessary strategic, entrepreneurial experience that a dynamic company like BrightVolt seeks.”
Pope brings with him 28 years of experience in the battery and power industry where he has generated significant revenue growth for both domestic and international sales throughout his career. Pope joins BrightVolt from VARTA, where he led national business development.
Prior to VARTA, he headed OEM sales for Electrochem Solutions, a subsidiary of Greatbatch Ltd., a $170 million global power solutions manufacturer. In that role, Pope was directly responsible for significantly increasing OEM sales revenue in both medical and military market segments. Before that, Pope held several positions of increasing responsibility with Ultralife Corporation, a commercial and government battery design company.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the BrightVolt team,” Pope said. “It’s a nimble company in a tremendous growth industry with the right product. The opportunity to join a team that is not only growing but truly helping transform how battery technology helps to shape IoT is an exciting one.”
