onsemi announced that it has been named a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree for its AR0820AT 8.3 megapixel (MP) CMOS digital image sensor. The CES Innovation Awards program, owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is an an-nual competition celebrating outstanding design and engineering in 27 consumer technology product categories.
The onsemi digital image sensor developed for automotive applications was honored in the vehicle intelligence and transportation category.
Specifically designed for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), the AR0820AT forms a fundamental part of the vision system that will detect objects in the vehicle’s path, including pedestrians and other vehicles, increasing road safety. With features such as higher dynamic range, enhanced low light performance, real-time functional safety mechanisms and fault detection, this sensor is aimed at assisting drivers and ultimately enables a new generation of fully autonomous vehicles with essential 360-degree vision.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by the CTA and our customers for driving valuable innovations in intelligent sensing technologies,” said Ross Jatou, SVP, Intelligent Sensing Group at onsemi. “Our ongoing mission is to enhance the automotive mobility experience and advance active safety to enable fully autonomous driving.”
The high resolution of this sensor, coupled with the ability to operate effectively in poor lighting conditions, enhances the capabilities of ADAS systems. Higher resolution allows smaller objects and other hazards to be detected and identified by the system at a greater distance, allowing the vehicle to alert the driver or take avoiding action earlier, thereby enhancing road safety.
