Zebra Technologies announced that it will be the first company to implement RFID player tracking technology to deliver important player performance during the Reese’s Senior Bowl as well as the practices leading up to the game.
NFL coaches, scouts and general managers will receive player tracking and performance data to assist them in their evaluation and scouting of some of the top college players. Zebra will also sponsor the Reese’s Senior Bowl game on Jan. 27, 2018, which will be played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, AL and will be aired on the NFL Network.
The Zebra Sports Solution attaches RFID tags to a player’s equipment to track their movements on the field, which enables coaches to gather performance data including each player’s practice participation, speed and acceleration information, distance traveled by period, drill, and throughout the entire practice session.
Zebra is the “Official On-Field Player Tracking Provider” for the NFL. About one-third of NFL players have played in the Senior Bowl, football’s premier senior showcase that annually features the country’s best top senior collegiate players and NFL draft prospects.
“The New Orleans Saints benefit from the data provided by Zebra as it gives us the visibility we need to make the right calls during each of our practices and in preparation for our games,” said Sean Payton, head coach, New Orleans Saints. “Our recruiting efforts will also be enhanced as we can better evaluate and scout college players based on data generated at the Senior Bowl.”
“With 500 former players on active NFL rosters, the Senior Bowl features the future stars of the league,” Phil Savage, executive director, Senior Bowl, added. “We are thrilled to work with Zebra so that we have the best real-time tracking technology to help evaluators get the details about each player’s performance to build successful teams.”
