Philips announced that its new quantum dot-based monitors are now available in China. The new monitors utilize Color IQ technology from QD Vision to deliver the vivid color viewing experience. The new Philips monitors enable 50% better color performance than a typical LCD monitor.
In 2015, Philips launched the first 27-inch quantum dot monitor globally. The new monitors extends to 31.5-inch and offers 98% Adobe RGB color. Meanwhile, the ultra-thin frame halves at 8.6mm. The Philips new quantum dot monitor are now available online and at Philips retailers.
“Philips continues to be a leader in bringing the latest product innovation and technology to the display market,” said Sapling Chen, global product director Philips Monitors. “We are proud to partner with QD Vision to integrate quantum dot technology into the new Philips quantum dots monitors, which raises the bar for delivering the widest color gamut displays available today.”
QD Vision’s Color IQ solution utilizes semiconductor nanocrystals called quantum dots to precisely and efficiently convert light emissions and create virtually any color of the visible spectrum. Color IQ Optics deliver wider color gamut than any other commercial technology, including OLED, but at a much lower overall cost.
Today, most mainstream models are limited to illustrating, at most, 70% of the Adobe spectrum. Using QD Vision’s Color IQ solution, Philips quantum dot displays delivers 98% of the full Adobe RGB spectrum.
“Using Color IQ quantum dots, Philips is bringing a professional quality, wide color gamut experience to mainstream monitor users,” said John Volkmann, chief marketing officer at QD Vision. “These new, more lifelike monitors are perfect for anyone doing amateur photography, watching movies, playing games or even just buying clothes online.”
