More than 120 people attended RAIN RFID Alliance’s fifth members meeting in February. The organization celebrated reaching 100 members since its founding in April 2014.
NXP hosted the RAIN meeting in Graz, Austria for two days. During the members-only meeting, the workgroups met and worked on their projects. It was clear that RAIN RFID is growing strong across many markets including retail, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, etc.
There was also an open meeting, where many non-members attended to learn more about the RAIN Alliance. There were numerous presentations, including a keynote address from Gerald Santucci from the European Commission, “The Internet of Things and RFID from the EU Perspective.” All public presentations are available on the RAIN RFID website.
“NXP did an amazing job hosting the RAIN Alliance meeting,” said Steve Halliday, president of RAIN RFID Alliance, which is part of AIM Global.
Planning is underway for the next RAIN Alliance meeting, June 8-10, 2016 in Silicon Valley, California. This will be a three-day meeting adjacent to the IEEE Tech Industry Summit, which will focus on industrial Internet of Things (IoT).
The RAIN meeting will include a full day to address how RAIN RFID is involved with IoT. Billions of items are already being tagged every year to identify, locate, authenticate and engage by connecting IoT. Anyone can attend this open meeting.
